I wanted to report on our trip and let
you know that we have arrived safely and are enjoying ourselves. We left
State College Pa. and flew to D.C. All went well and then we flew to
Houston. Again a smooth and enjoyable flight. We got into Houston at
about 1230 A.M. and our connecting flight to Roatan didn't leave until
10:00 A. M. We have had this problem before, its due mainly to few
flights going to Roatan. In preceding years in other airports we have
found reading areas which have couches where you can sleep but not so in
Houston. We found a deserted waiting area and tried to get a little
sleep but it was very cold so it turned out to be a long night. But we
survived and here we are in paradise.
We had made reservations at a lodge
called The Backpackers Host but found this too rough and so we had to
scramble and get a cabby to take us to another lodge called The Pirate
Den which we found more to our living style. We have a very nice
apartment with TV and internet with aview of the Caribbean . Our first
night here we went to a restaurant in West End which features roasted
chicken. This has got to be the best tasting chicken in the world.
Mary has scheduled a vendor selling fresh
vegetable to come to the lodge several times a week so we can get fresh
produce. The temperature is in the 80's with a constant breeze blowing
from the ocean keeping us cool. We can pick bananas, mangoes, papaya's
for breakfast. he lodge sets on 5 or 6 acres and there are chickens and
dogs roaming free. Its a very restful place.
